It just seems like a long time ago, but I remember reading articles about HostGator trying to get into the domain registration business but that never did happen till this year. I just noticed it’s been launched and it could have been awhile ago though. Anyways, I was just on the HostGator homepage checking out some stuff and found a link to there domain register page. This is part of their business but it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles features that other well-known domain register business’s have such as Godaddy. If you are going to host your website with HG then you might want to think about buying a domain through them and along with a hosting account of course.
The pricing for the HostGator domain register site is pretty reasonable with the other domain registers such as GoDaddy but I still think that Godaddy has more security features or extra features that you can buy/enable on your domain. All my domains are with Godaddy so I know what features I have available. I have not bought a domain with HostGators new service yet but may in the future.

- FREE Registrar Lock
You do know that GoDaddy has a lot more features that you could use but most of them would cost your extra money per year or per month. What I mentioned above is free for life with your domains. You can also transfer your domain from another domain register to HostGator’s domain business. I would first suggest that you contact their support team to ask what steps that you need to take. You could search their homepage for instructions but it would be wiser to get help from a staff member so the process is not as painful as it could end up being.
If you have tried out buying a domain from HostGator’s domain register business or even transferred domains already, I would like to hear your review during this whole process. Could HostGator “eat up” Godaddy’s domain business a little?
