If you are looking to make an extra income online, most of the folks start doing something simple like promoting affiliate program’s. How does an affiliate program work? In a nutshell, a business wants to get more business and by providing an affiliate program where you get a special link to use. Now when someone purchase’s that product through your special link (it’s call an affiliate link), you will receive a certain percentage of that total sale. Some affiliate programs are residual ones where the business’s website is a membership site in which someone pays money each month to keep their membership. If you want to get a residual income from promoting affiliate programs then look for residual ones. The more people you get to sign up, the more money you make each month on autopilot.
To throw you off a little, I’m going to list MY own ways of getting yourself banned from an affiliate program.
- 1. Read the affiliate program guidelines and violate every rule in 1 day and then report yourself through a fake email address to the website owner
- 2. Spam the affiliate program owner with an email promoting his own product.
- 3. Put the affiliate link on porn sites and warez websites. Say you own that business you just promoted on those sites.
- 4. Buy an illegal email list in which no one opted in to the list and spam them with affiliate links from your affiliate programs you belong to. I’m sure you will get reported for spamming people who not opted into your list.
I could go on a little more with some better evil ways to get banned from an affiliate program but why would you want to do this? Myself, I’m an affiliate marketer and have always been one. I make a good side income from doing this and I do know a few people who make a living from doing this online. They won’t tell me their secrets and give me a bunch of B.S. because they don’t want anyone stealing their tricks of the trade. I see some Clickbank products saying they will teach you the secrets to making millions of dollars doing affiliate marketing but this is just a total scam. It’s not hard to make a few bucks doing this with not that much knowledge. It takes a lot of luck.
What you need to remember is Google and their algorithm updates, a lot of article directories, web directories, blogs and even big business’s have been nailed by the panda and penguin update. What I say to do is promote affiliate programs only on your blog and use the social media to do most of your marketing. Gain more followers and once and awhile send them a message about a good website to checkout and use your affiliate link. Write reviews of products on your blog but don’t spin the blog post, write a real review in your own words. People can tell when you feeding them a bunch of B.S. to try to get a sale. Just be honest, if a few don’t actually like the product enough to sell it, just say so, someone else will still like the product and maybe buy it through your link anyways.
Write guest blog posts on blogs in your niche but don’t promote an affiliate product, link them to your blog where you do this. This is a great marketing tactic to get traffic. Always read the rules of an affiliate program before you promote it. Sometimes that owner will have some tips on what marketing methods convert best and you should follow that advice. Don’t get upset if you don’t make a sale after a few weeks to a few months when promoting affiliate program’s. You need to continue to educate yourself about this crazy industry and find out what methods work best for you. One of my many favorite blogs I check out 2 days a week is blog.affiliatetip.com.
