This may sound like a crazy question today but could you go a few days without using your cell phone? I mean not even looking at the display screen to see what time it is. Most of us or all of us can not go an hour or two without touching our cell phones. Wow, can you imagine our parents back in the day not actually having a cell phone? These days parents get their young teenager cell phones which is a little crazy in my opinion. Hope you have a good data plan or the young kids will kill your phone bill. Since kids don’t pay for their cell phone bill, they don’t know how much money it is for going way over the normal data plan that you have.
Anyways, I have not tried this yet and actually don’t plan on doing it but would you be able to go a few days without using your cell phone or even looking at it to see what time it is? We have become to attached to our mobile devices as we use them every single day for work business, personal use, checking emails, setting appointments…etc and freak out when our battery is low and we forgot our charger!!! OMG, it’s not the end of the world if your phone is going to die and you don’t have your charger with you. Think about your parents when they was growing up, they had no cell phones and most likely “pagers” was not invented yet.
Cell phones is a huge cause in-car accidents on the road because people are so attached to their cell phone that when they get a text message or even a phone call, they handle it right away while driving the vehicle. This then cause’s car accidents and sometimes serious ones that cause death or severe injuries. Yes the blue tooth was invented or headsets to use while driving but you still can be distracted while chatting and not paying attention to all your surroundings. It’s great having a cell phone and I’ve got a million reason’s why I love mine. I have the Iphone 4s and make use of all he app’s and features that are available to me but I don’t always use my phone right away when I get a text message or phone call while at work. I’m at work to work and not at work to text message back and forth with family and friends. They can call my work phone if it’s important or wait till I’m on break at work for me to respond to their message.
I won’t do this but try going a few days without using your cell phone, see how boring it is as you have become so attached to the phone that you go nut’s if you can’t find where you left your phone in the house..etc. If your kids are going way over-board with the cell phone that you provided to them to use for emergencies only or set some rules about how much data to use up and disobeyed you, take their phone away for a few day’s. Yes they will be upset as they attached to the phone but explain to them that their grandparents grew up without cell phones and still was able to communicate with friends via. telephone or actually going over to there house. Money doesn’t grow on tree’s and decent data plans for cell phones seem to be going up. My niece loves playing games on my iPhone but drains the battery and sometimes calls people by mistake. She is 5 so I have to navigate to the game for her on my phone but she press’ all kinds of buttons. Hope she didn’t call china as that country isn’t covered in my phone plan.
I know a few guys at work who don’t even have a cell phone and still old school and use a telephone to call people. It’s hard today to part with some cool tech gadgets as they have gotten smaller and more features. We become attached to certain technology gadgets so much that they are a large part of our life. How about get out and socialize without using your phone to chat on Facebook once and awhile.
I’m done with my rant, feel free to post your comments below if you got something to say.

Hello Derek! Good topic, perfect timing I visited your website. In all honesty, I gone few days without a cellphone. It may not as accurate as what the topic is but let me tell you a story how crazy that experienced was.
I was 13, got a smartphone and got infected by a virus, since I’m not so aware of such thing exists, my parents pull out my smartphone and have it repaired. But as a punishment for my irresponsibility, they will change my smartphone to a lower end one. It took almost a week no phone at hand, not even temporary phone for my use, part of punishment. Every minute, I’ll tell you, is a torture! The time passes by so slooowww!!! I feel easily irritated. And I can’t help it but to think I wish I could have something to fiddle during my spare time at school and at house.
What makes that torture a living hell is that … every night, I’m dreaming of my phone! Sounds funny but true. And because of that, I got restless night, midnight waking … thinking of my phone. I’d almost cried for it!
That torture lasts for more than a week. And when I have new phone, I locked myself in my room and cherish the moment I had a cellphone again.
Sometimes I left my phone, I feel naked when that happened. I become paranoid because I might received important text or call. And yes, that’s happening when I left my phone. And one time, I left my phone in our house here in Metro, and went to our house in province, I stayed there for 3 days. When I get back to Metro, I received a text from my employer, telling 1st day of work in their company, which is I received 3 days behind. Good thing I able to work there despite my late response.
Oh, I’d said much. Sorry for the long story. I can’t help it when I can relate to a topic.
Wow, you typed up a novel but thanks. lol
